About me

Professional Background

My name is J.D. Justice, I AM A SELF TAUGHT ARTIST FROM SOUTH CAROLINA BUT I HAVE CALLED PANAMA CITY HOME FOR ABOUT A DECADE.
I taught art classes full time at a Paint and SIp studio while i finished college and fell in love with teaching art.
 IN 2017 MY FRIEND AND I CO-FOUNDED PALMETTO PAINT PC, A NONPROFIT THAT USES PAINT CLASS fundraisers AS A WAY TO GIVE BACK TO BAY COUNTY. 
In 2018 I was offered a position at a local elementary school after interviewing with admin for what i thought was a fundraising meeting. I taught elementary art for 3 years with a focus on making creativity accessible to my students.
​ In 2021 I LEFT THE CLASSROOM TO Pursue full time freelance work. I enjoyed that for 2 years and grew my portfolio substantially.
​Currently I teach middle and high school digital art full time.  I am blessed to have over 70 Public art pieces worth of experience- with pieces around, and outside of,  Bay County.

Painting is pretty much a daily thing for me, but when I have time off I am usually somewhere IN downtown PAmana City attending events or riding my longboard.
Outside of Panama City, I enjoy camping and
​Traveling to state parks across the south with my dog Kota.

​ BAckground

ART WAS JUST A HOBBY FOR ME UNTIL I TOOK A STUDIO ART CLASS AND FOUND THAT I ENJOY THE FLUIDITY AND forgiving NATURE OF PAINTING.
FOR A WHILE I WAS A JACK OF ALL TRADES- CREATING DIGITAL ART, WOOD ART, SIGNS, CANVAS PAINTINGS, AND ANYTHING ELSE SOMEONE WOULD PAY ME TO CREATE. MURALS and public art HAVE BECOME MY MAIN FOCUS SINCE 2021. I LIKE THE CHALLENGE THAT LARGE SCALE ART AFFORDS AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE WORK FOR THE PUBLIC TO ENJOY.
​I draw inspiration from pop culture, with my go to mural themes being illustrative or pop art.  MY PERSONAL art STYLE started with drawing video game and comic book characters as a kid. Building on that has produced a unique visual style that allows me to create works with different aesthetics  for different clients.
